Adler’s Family-Friendly Fun: Top Activities And Attractions

Leisure Pursuits In Adler Russia:

1. ART GLASS STUDIO:

Small and large glass figurines are often sold at holiday fairs, and there are always plenty of buyers at such counters. Bright, expressive animal figurines migrate to children’s hands, adults choose vases or interior sculptures. All this is made by hand, and the master who makes such crafts is called the same as in the old days: a glass blower. Children clearly hear the root “blow” in this word and are surprised: how can you blow hard glass? Especially for such inquisitive children, the Art Glass Studio in Adler holds a tour show. The studio appeared at the Black Sea resort in 2007.

A glass furnace from the Czech Republic was purchased for work. If you were lucky enough to spend a family vacation in Karlovy Vary before, you could visit the Moser Glass Museum and appreciate the highest skill of Czech glassblowers. Czech specialists shared their knowledge, and Russian artists and designers were able to implement their ideas with the help of the supplied equipment. Ideas, clothed in glass – this is how you can call the products exhibited in the studio’s showroom. A rainbow cat coexists on a shelf with a black, resinous dog; a salad bowl resembles an exotic fruit, and some vases contain shining glass flowers.

The art glass studio produces tableware, candlesticks, and figurines. It is often here that people choose a souvenir that will remind them of a summer vacation at the seaside: the studio’s product catalog has a section called “Sea.” A tour guide will tell you how the products and glass are created. But what is much more interesting is that you can see the process of making the figurines with your own eyes during the Glass Blowers’ Show.

It is difficult to even find the right word to describe the master’s work: he sculpts from glass, and paints with glass, and – remember the name of his profession – inflates it. The result is a new thing, unlike any other. The studio shop sells about 2,000 items. But if you haven’t found the figurine you need, you can order one and get a unique souvenir. The tour lasts only 20-30 minutes, so we recommend adding a visit to the Adler trout farm, which is located nearby, to your vacation program. There you can see how trout is bred and try dishes made from this delicacy fish.

2. ADLER CULTURE AND RECREATION PARK:

What to do in Adler with a child when evening comes and the Adler beach becomes uncomfortable? Of course, move your vacation to a park with attractions. There are several such places at the resort, and during your vacation you will probably visit them all. Let the Adler Culture and Recreation Park be one of the program items. A green corner near the sea coast is a very cozy place where vacationers from all nearby hotels and boarding houses flock.

Around the square with palm trees and fountains there are children’s attractions. They are mainly designed for preschoolers. The little ones will be happy to ride on familiar boats, carousels, fun slides (mini-version of a roller coaster) or a small Ferris wheel. In the Central Recreation Park in Adler there are about a dozen such entertainments for kids, and among them, of course, an inflatable trampoline and a small play maze. Recently, a small rope park has appeared among the attractions. Older children can turn the steering wheel at the autodrome, shoot at the shooting range or have fun in front of the crooked mirrors in the funhouse.

Also among them there are usually daredevils who want to tame a bull at the “Rodeo” attraction. From time to time, entertainment programs for children are organized on one of the sites of the Adler Park of Culture and Recreation. In the evenings, a disco is held on the dance floor. In addition, regular resort entertainment periodically appears in this green zone, for example, a 9D cinema or an exhibition of wax figures.

Mostly, people come to the park to walk with their children along the alleys or have dinner in some cafe. In the evening, the fountains are illuminated – with such lighting, even ordinary ice cream seems doubly delicious. You can also go down to the beach to admire how the setting sun is reflected in the water. A slightly larger selection of entertainment awaits you in the Adler amusement park “Primorsky”. The landmark for finding it is the tall Ferris wheel.

3. ADLER DOLPHINARIUM:

Who, while on holiday at the Black Sea, hasn’t heard the enthusiastic cries of “Look, dolphins!”? Sometimes you can even see them from the shore or during boat trips. But you can definitely meet these smart and charming animals at the dolphinarium. When on holiday with children in Adler or Sochi, visit the Aquatoria marine park, where dolphins, belugas, walruses, sea lions and fur seals perform every day. The hour-long show program doesn’t tire the little spectators: they would happily continue watching the artists’ dexterous tricks. The Sochi Dolphinarium in Adler opened in 1998. Since it was expected that there would be many visitors (these expectations were fully met), a large stand for spectators was built – it can accommodate more than 1,000 people. The rows are arranged in an amphitheater, so everything that happens in the pool is clearly visible from any seat.

The main arena of the dolphinarium is a pool with a diameter of 20 meters. The six-meter depth allows the aquatic mammals to swim and dive freely. A special stage reminiscent of a circus arena has been built for the performance of walruses, seals and sea lions. So, it’s time to get acquainted with the main characters. Bottlenose dolphins perform in many dolphinariums: trainers have long known about their ability to learn. And here in Adler there are several of these cuties. It seems that they can do any tricks: jumping through a hoop, juggling a ball, playing water polo. If you need to dance, they dance. If you need to draw, they draw. If you need to sing, they sing. The audience rewards the artists for their dexterity with applause, and the trainers – with tasty fish.

And just look at the tricks dolphins are capable of in order to get an extra treat! But belugas, or white whales, are rarely seen among the artists. But the Aquatoria Dolphinarium has become home to a pair of belugas, and these animals have learned many tricks with the help of their trainers. The steep-browed animals are not inferior to dolphins in either skill or charm. And having heard their singing, you will no longer say that a crying child is roaring like a beluga. This expression, of course, does not refer to the silent beluga, but to the vocal beluga – but the high-pitched chirping sounds that it makes are not at all similar to roaring. Walruses, sea lions and seals demonstrate their talents both in the water and on land. They can walk on their hands (or rather, on flippers), sit on a chair, spin hoops on their noses, pump up their abs – they are even very charming when they are shy. And the animals also encourage their trainers with applause.

The spectators understand the hint and tirelessly clap their hands: the trainers really do a great job. If you arrive at the Adler Dolphinarium long before the show, you will not be bored. Children will be able to frolic in the playroom or walk along the green paths, looking at the flower beds in the shape of animals. After the show, there is usually a queue of people wanting to take pictures with the dolphins (this service, like swimming with sea animals, is paid). Tickets to the Adler Dolphinarium are sold at the box office of the Aquatoria and in excursion bureaus. The cost of seats located next to the pool is slightly higher. Of course, this can be explained by the fact that you can see and hear better from there. But maybe the price includes a generous portion of splashes that the animal performers give to the audience? Next to the dolphinarium is the largest oceanarium in Russia, Sochi Discovery World Aquarium. A tour of it is a good way to combine a vacation with children in Adler on the Black Sea and a mini-trip to other seas.

4. SOCHI AUTO MUSEUM :

All those who come to Sochi or Adler on holiday try to visit the Olympic facilities, and those who are on holiday in Sochi with children also try to get to the Sochi Park amusement park. It turns out that among these attractions there is another very interesting exhibition – the Sochi Auto Museum. It traces the history of the Soviet automobile industry from the 30s to the 80s of the twentieth century. Although boys are usually interested in cars, visiting the museum will be useful for all children, since the history of the automobile industry is part of the history of the country. In the large exhibition hall you will see about 100 vehicles manufactured in the USSR: cars and trucks, service cars, buses, military equipment, motorcycles and motorized carriages, bicycles.

The original equipment is preserved everywhere, but almost all the cars have a gloss interior. Next to each car there is an information plate. Someone will pay attention to the technical specifications – engine type and volume, power, speed; Others will be interested to know which famous people used such a car. Sometimes it is important to read what the car was intended for. For example, the ZIL-41072 “Scorpion” is a special security car, released in a quantity of only 8 copies. By the way, it is worth paying attention not only to the mechanism for quickly opening the rear window and the swivel seats for shooting in this car, but also to the headlight cleaners.

Some Soviet cars were equipped with such headlight wipers, but now this device is no longer to be seen. Several exhibits of the automobile museum in Sochi are worth mentioning separately. Here you will see the first Soviet conveyor-assembled car – GAZ-A, which is a licensed copy of the Ford-A car. Among others, there is a ZIS-110 car, which remained the most powerful Soviet car until 1950. Stalin used a modification of the ZIS-115 with armor protection for trips. Ordinary ZIS-110s drove around Moscow as taxis. It is impossible not to notice the elegant lines of the GAZ-13 Chaika, a luxury car. Chaikas of various modifications were the personal transport of high-ranking officials, were used for ceremonial trips, and served as ambulances. In contrast to massive luxury cars, people’s cars are small in size.

The most famous of them is the ZAZ-965, a Zaporozhets, which was nicknamed “humpbacked” due to its distinctive body shape. However, this is not the only tiny car in the museum. The Kineshma motorized carriage is inferior to the Zaporozhets in both size and power. Some cars of the Sochi Automobile Museum in the Olympic Park are inscribed in scenes from the lives of Soviet people. You just want to switch your camera to black and white mode to capture a scene of a trip to nature: a canvas tent, a pot on the fire, and simple skis leaning against the car. A funny detail: the cars in the museum are not installed on a smooth, drivable surface, but on large Sochi pebbles. In addition to cars, the museum has a collection of automobile-themed figurines. In addition, in the museum shop you can buy models of cars produced by the Soviet auto industry.

5. OSTRICH FARM TRI SOFII :

Ostriches are record holders in the bird kingdom. They are the largest of modern birds; they cannot fly, but they run very fast; they can go without water for a long time (it is not for nothing that the name of this bird is translated from Greek as “camel sparrow”); one ostrich egg is equal in weight to 30-35 chicken eggs; the thickness of the eggshell is half a centimeter. Does your child have a lot of questions about the life of ostriches? All curious people are invited to visit the ostrich farm “Tri Sofii”, which is located near Krasnaya Polyana.

Among other excursions in Sochi, this one is good because it allows you to emerge from the crowds of vacationers and spend the day in relative solitude. The main inhabitants of the farm are African ostriches and Australian emus. These birds have an awkward build: a small head rises above a large body on powerful legs. But the look of ostriches can be childishly naive, and their slightly open beak resembles a smile so much that it is impossible not to succumb to the charm of these birds. Birds raised in captivity are accustomed to people, so they are not afraid of visitors and come very close to the fence – you can see both the frightening claws on their paws and the touching eyelashes on their eyelids.

Unlike ostriches, emus are more cautious and try to stay away. In addition, other birds are bred on the ostrich farm in Sochi. Golden pheasants and peacocks, real dandies in the world of birds, walk around in the enclosures. Parrots are not inferior to them in beauty – many of them can also talk. There are also many waterfowl on the farm, and aren’t the colorful mandarin ducks and Carolina ducks beautiful? You can also find out at the farm whether African wild geese are different from common domestic geese.

Among the children’s activities available at the farm are riding a Shetland pony and taking pictures with a tame kite. For a photo shoot, you can throw a Caucasian burka over your shoulders and hold a dagger in your hands. A tour of the farm usually ends with a visit to a cafe, which offers ostrich meat and egg dishes. The souvenir shop sells products made from ostrich leather, feathers and eggshells. Since you will be outdoors all the time during the tour, you need to take care of hats and sunscreen. Not far from the farm is the Adler trout farm, a large enterprise for breeding valuable fish. Also nearby is the Art Glass Studio.
