Adventure Awaits: Discover The Best Activities In Bečići Montenegro

Leisure Pursuits In Bečići Montenegro:

1. MEDITERAN AQUA PARK:

Today, this is one of two water parks on the coast of Montenegro. The water park is located on the territory of the 4-star hotel “Mediteran”. It is relatively small in area (7500 sq. m) and quite compact. The infrastructure of the park consists of five swimming pools, the largest of which is 503 sq. m, water slides for senior school children and adults, a couple of children’s pools, several pools with jacuzzis, a sun terrace, a cocktail bar, a cafe, a sanitary block. Near each slide there is a sign indicating the age limit, as well as the rules for using the slide. The most extreme in this water park is, perhaps, the water attraction “Cyclone”: an exciting slide along a closed pipe ends with a dizzying rotation inside a huge funnel with a fall into a pool 1.7 m deep.

Several indoor and outdoor high-speed water slides are also offered. There is a “lazy river” around the pool complex, where you can leisurely float on a “cheesecake”, sunbathing and water bathing at the same time. The water park is more focused on school-age children, teenagers and adults. For toddlers, there are only two water slides in one of two small children’s pools. In general, the park area is clean and tidy, there are ramps for strollers. It is forbidden to bring food and drinks to the water park, or take animals. Things can be stored in special storage rooms, which are located at the entrance. You can change clothes in the toilet room. Towels are provided for an additional fee. A similar water park in Budva also offers various original entertainment – so it is a must-see!

2. KOTOR:

The Bay of Kotor is the place that is definitely worth visiting if you are on holiday in Montenegro with children. “The Bride of Jadran” (“Bride of the Adriatic”), as the locals call the Bay of Kotor, is recognized as one of the most beautiful natural harbors in Europe. In the very center of the bay, stretching for 38 kilometers, is the ancient city of Kotor. It is rightfully considered the main settlement of the bay, because its rich history, ancient traditions and culture impress even experienced travelers. Tourists are offered two types of excursions: by ship or by bus. If you are traveling with children, it is wiser to choose the first option, because a boat trip for the whole day is an incredible adventure in itself. The main thing is that the child is not prone to seasickness. You can buy an excursion in any resort town, its direction can be from Kotor to Budva, and vice versa. On a tour of the Bay of Kotor, you and your young tourists will be able to admire the magnificent beauty of the landscapes to their heart’s content. The greenery of the tree crowns, the riot of coastal shrubs, the emerald shine of the transparent waves – anyone who has not taken a cruise on a sea liner between the small settlements of the Bay of Kotor will not understand the true value of this unique place.

This short sea voyage will be interesting for your children for many reasons. In addition to the incredible beauty of nature, they will be able to see with their own eyes a large number of ancient fortresses, buildings, temples and monasteries. In other words, everything that makes up the historical heritage of this place. The first point of your route along the Bay of Kotor will be the magnificent Zhanits beach, considered one of the best on the entire coast. For an additional fee, you can ride from this beach to the Blue Grotto, which is a former pirate treasury and a real miracle of nature. Next on your route you will come across the town of stairs – Herceg Novi, located at the very foot of Mount Orijen. Here you will be able to see three ancient fortresses: Kanli Kula, Forte Mare and Španjola. Kanli Kula and Forte Mare are connected by a wide street in the form of stairs, which “diverges” in different directions in the very center of the city.

Having walked along any branch, you will be able to take short but exciting hikes along the old streets of the city with your little travelers. Get to know its culture, buy original souvenirs, be sure to taste the most delicate and aromatic pastries and return to the ship. However, if you took a very small child with you, it is better to abandon the idea of exploring the city on foot – a walk through an overly hilly area will quickly tire both you and the baby. After a short period of time, the next stop awaits you – a man-made island with an interesting name: “The Holy Lady of Škrpjela”. The island has its own Church of Our Lady of the Rocks. You can see it by landing on the local land. As always, the sweetest and most delicious part of the excursion is left for dessert – the city of Kotor, which is considered the main one in the necklace of settlements of the Bay of Kotor. Kotor is surrounded by a huge solid wall, which belongs to the ancient fortress of St. Ivan. It offers stunning views of the bay, the beauty of which literally makes tourists freeze for a moment. Kotor is divided into two parts: the Old Town and the New Town.

In the Old Town, you will get acquainted with a large number of architectural solutions from the masters of the past, because Baroque, Gothic, Romanesque and Byzantine styles are literally mixed here. The Church of St. Luke and the Cathedral of St. Tryphon deserve special attention. All these attractions are located in the very center of the city, so finding them will not be difficult. If you and your child are brave and courageous, and you also have some time, try to hike up the local mountain, at the foot of which the city stands. After climbing the long stairs up, you will be rewarded: a wonderful panorama of the Bay of Kotor awaits you. The excursion is quite tiring for children, so we recommend it primarily for families with children of primary and secondary school age.

3. BOAT TRIP ALONG THE BUDVA RIVIERA:

A boat trip along the Budva Riviera is a fascinating adventure that will give you and your children a lot of impressions and emotions. It is worth noting that this area is remarkable in that it meets all the requirements of a discerning tourist: it pleases with its azure sea, warm sun, magnificent nature and clean long beaches. This is one of the warmest and most visited holiday destinations on the entire Montenegrin coast. Perhaps, the Budva Riviera can be called the center of beach tourism in Montenegro. It begins in the southeast of Cape Jaz. It is here that you can see a large number of bays of various sizes with sandy and pebble beaches.

If you and your children are fans of sunbathing and swimming, then this resort is exactly what you need for a comfortable holiday! You can take a sea walk along the Budva Riviera from most resort towns: Budva, Becici, Petrovac, Sveti Stefan, Rafailovici – boats leave from the pier every hour. Along the entire 34.6 km (that is how long the Riviera coast is) you will enjoy incredible views of nature and architectural structures from the sea. Small quiet bays are adjacent to wide gulfs, replaced by beaches, interspersed with individual steep cliffs. Taking a sea boat trip with your child, you can show him the island-hotel of St. Stefan – the calling card of Montenegro, as well as Katic, the island of St. Nedelja and St. Nikola.

Boats usually dock at the last island on the way back. Here you will see with your own eyes the low and narrow grottoes created by the talented hand of nature itself. It is through them that your return journey by water will pass. Reach out and touch the cave walls – you will feel the cold and hardness of the rock, which will allow your children to see that everything around is real. The coastal vegetation amazes with its riot, abundance and diversity. You will be able to see cypresses, cacti, pines, wild pomegranate, juniper, acacia and fig growing. At the beginning of the journey, in some places you can see single olive trees, while closer to the resort town of Petrovac, entire olive groves are spread out.

Beautiful Mediterranean architecture – this is what else amazes and amazes a boat trip along the Budva Riviera. Time will fly by while you inspect local buildings and explore the beaches, on one of which you may have to relax. A boat trip along the Budva Riviera with children is one of the excellent options for getting to know the local nature, beaches and architecture. Even little ones can easily endure this short sea voyage lasting only one hour, because the boat hardly rocks, and the large awning allows them to hide from the omnipresent sun.

4. LOVCEN ROPE PARK:

To add variety to your beach vacation and get an extra dose of positive emotions, we suggest that you and your whole family head to the Lovcen National Park. Here, on the territory of the Ivanova Korita recreation center, a rope park has been operating since 2009, where you can have a great time in the shade and coolness of pine forests, and at the same time actively move around, overcoming exciting adventure routes.

Before the start, all participants receive protective equipment (helmets, safety carabiners, gloves) and undergo instruction on the training track. Then everyone chooses a suitable route for themselves and begins conquering the rope paths. All routes are laid through trees and consist of a variety of obstacles in the form of nets, bungee cords, ropes, skateboards on a cable, ladders, swinging logs and platforms. Depending on the age of the participants, several routes are offered, marked with individual colors: yellow, green, blue, red, black. The average time to complete each route is 10-20 minutes, and the most difficult one can be completed in 30-40 minutes.

  • The Koala Trail, yellow (Koala Trail), is the easiest, designed for children aged five and up. The rope route is laid at a height of up to 1.5 meters, and there are 14 barriers along the way.
  • The Spiderman Trail, green (Spiderman Trail), is laid at a height of up to 3.5 meters and includes 15 obstacles along the way.
  • The Cheetah Trail, blue (Cheetah Trail), is designed for teenagers and adults (15+). Rope paths with sixteen games are located at a height of six meters.
  • The Tarzan Trail, black (Tarzan Trail), is the most difficult and most exciting. At a height of up to 15 meters, you will find 19 obstacles and a 105-meter rope descent. This route is available to those who are 18 years of age or older.
  • There are several sports grounds near the park, and there are restaurants where you can have a tasty and filling snack.

5. DURMITOR NATIONAL PARK:

When planning an excursion program during a holiday with children in Montenegro, be sure to include Durmitor in your list – a unique park with vast meadows, icy clear lakes, green forests with an abundance of animals and birds. You will fall in love with this place completely and irrevocably and will never be able to forget the comfort and pleasure with which you rested here. Durmitor is especially good with children – even in the stuffy dry weather, which is often on the coast, it is very easy to breathe here and not at all hot. This is where locals escape, seeking salvation from the sweltering heat of the coast. So do not forget to take warm clothes with you just in case. The national park includes such cities as Šavnik, Žabljak, Mojkovec, Pluzine, Pljevlja. Žabljak is the largest settlement, which is a local tourist center. Everything here literally glows with neatness and tranquility: small, similar wooden houses, wide fields on the outskirts of the park with emerald grass and grazing white sheep.

Durmitor National Park is unique not only for its pleasant atmosphere, but also for its natural attractions, which are countless in the local area. What is the Tara River alone worth, forming a huge canyon! In terms of its size, it is second only to the famous Colorado Grand Canyon, and in Europe, the gorge is officially recognized as the deepest. The height of its banks in some places is 1,300 m. The length of the Tara Canyon is 80 km. Separately, I would like to note that the Tara River Canyon is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. In fact, this is an independent reserve inside the Durmitor National Park, where rafting on the Tara River is also held. The park also features a man-made wonder – the 365-metre-long and 160-metre-high Djurdjevicha Bridge, which spans the river canyon. In the past, it was the highest European motorway bridge made of monolithic concrete. There are many large and small mountain lakes in Durmitor. All of them were formed after the thaw that followed the great Ice Age.

About 18 beautiful lakes await you, and if you are unable to visit them all, then visit the most curious of them – the Black Lake or Black Eyes, as the locals call this water area. The lake received such an original name due to its unusual geometry: the large and small lakes are connected by a narrow isthmus, which forms a kind of “nose bridge” between two bottomless black eyes. There is an information centre next to this lake, where you can get all the necessary information about the park. There is also a natural history museum and a mini-cinema showing a film about Durmitor. Durmitor Park is famous not only for its lakes, there are also other natural monuments, such as majestic mountains. Some of them are covered with snow even in the hot season. Bobotov Kuk is the highest point of the local mountain range, inside which the skillful hands of nature have formed winding water systems and mysterious caves. By the way, if you are very thirsty, you can drink water from any stream without fear – the water in them is the purest and tastiest. The nature in the park is grandiose: about one and a half thousand species of plants grow on its territory, among which roses, lilies and orchids bloom especially lushly. One of the rarest flowers – the “Durmitor bell” – can only be found on the territory of the reserve, but the chances of finding it are extremely small.

At any time of the year, you can find something to do in Durmitor to your liking. In summer, these are walks along specially laid out hiking trails, rafting on the local river, cycling, boating, horse riding, bungee jumping in one of the two adventure parks located near the Black Lake, swimming in crystal clear waters and enjoying the gentle rays of the sun. In winter, you can enjoy skiing, walking on the icy surfaces of local lakes, sledding. We recommend that you stay in the immediate vicinity of the park for a few days. Then you and your children will be able to see the main attractions without rushing and enjoying the unique nature. Since exploring the park is quite a tiring and time-consuming activity, we recommend this excursion for school-age children.
